Undergraduate Student Program

The ICCUSA Foundation has joined the National University of Ireland Maynooth (NUIM) to raise awareness of the high quality undergraduate degree programmes at NUIM, that are available to students from around the globe. More than 800 international students study at NUIM each year as undergraduates, familiarizing themselves with students from other countries and diverse cultures. Here they can choose from a wide range of academic subjects that promote familiarity with other countries, peoples, and cultures. Students who participate in this initiative will have the opportunity to broaden their university experience and reap the benefits of studying in Ireland, which can improve employment prospects, enrich social and cultural awareness, and be financially attractive. Students in Ireland complete their degrees in Arts or Humanities in 3 years, and Science degrees in 4 years, and the total tuition costs per year are much less than out of state tuition in the USA. Students currently studying at university level may also apply to study at NUIM as a visiting student, for either one semester or one year.

National University of Ireland Maynooth traces its history of academic excellence in the humanities and sciences dating back to its founding in 1795. Being the fastest-growing university in the country, with 8,500 students from over 50 countries, NUIM offers a unique environment for learning, combining the best of its academic and cultural traditions with a modern and innovative approach to teaching and research. NUIM has also been included in the Princeton Review’s “Best 376 Colleges: 2012 Edition” guidebook, based on the high quality of academics (with the most selective entry requirements for Arts and Humanities in Ireland) and also on the quality of the student experience, as testified by NUIM’s own students in an extensive survey.

National University of Ireland Maynooth is located in the beautiful, historic town of Maynooth, just 15 miles west of Dublin city centre. The local area surrounding Maynooth is rich with historical significance, through Carton House and Demesne, Castletown House and Leixlip Castle, home to the Guinness family. There are several historical monuments dating from the time of the Great Famine of Ireland in the local area and a 15th century castle at the gates of the University. Maynooth has excellent transport connections to Dublin city centre and the rest of Ireland, providing the ideal location from which students can explore the capital city and the country. Maynooth’s location is also adjacent to the Irish ‘silicon valley’, home to the European and International headquarters of many multi-national companies, such as Intel, HP, Facebook, Microsoft and Google. The university has strong connections with several multinational companies, providing opportunities for guest speakers, seminars and work placements for NUIM students.
